Connect and Grow Magazine Edition 4 - December 2023
" Your community can be a powerful resource!"
In November, Connect and Grow Magazine shared with you about a local disability expo, where many people came together to let community members know about their services.
In the past month, I have had the opportunity to meet some amazing people, and they come from businesses around Australia and Canada.
I have found that growing my community of people who have the same interests as me and who believe in supporting others has helped me to find where I belong. However, not everyone finds it that easy to do.
With so many changes going on in the world, it is essential to know who is part of your community and where you feel safe. Knowing your neighbours could be a great way to build a local community, supporting your local cafes, where you get to know people but also support a small business.
If you do not enjoy your local neighbourhood, you could create a community where you do enjoy going. I have always had a few different places that I enjoy going to and having a meal, a coffee, and getting to meet new people, but also support, as I have mentioned, the local business. I have found in doing this, I have had referrals from those local restaurants and cafes for my business, and I have been able to refer people to other people.
Being in person with people can lift your spirits and be a positive experience for many people.
Community is what you choose to make it mean and be.
